The basic structure of the present continuos interrogative: (anywhere = some or anywhere, anybody = anyone, someone, anything = anything, something)
Verb to be | Subject | Verb | Complement + ? | Spanish |
Am | I | eating | something? | ¿Estoy comiendo algo? |
Are | you | talking | to somebody? | ¿Estas hablando con alguien? |
Is | he | listening | to something? | ¿Está escuchando algo? (él) |
Is | she | reading | something? | ¿Está leyendo algo? (ella) |
Is | it | going | somewhere? | ¿Va a algún sitio? |
Are | you | looking | at something? | ¿Miras algo? |
Are | we | wearing | something? | ¿Llevamos algo puesto? |
Are | they | sitting | somewhere? | ¿Están sentados en algún sitio? |
Note: The word "some" and "any" mean the same thing sometimes. The main difference is that "some" is typically used for positive and "any" for negative and interrogative.
Note: The present continuous interrogative simply swaps the verb "to be" in the subject to ask the question.
